British Food Fortnight - 26 September - 11 October

British Food Fortnight celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026, marking a quarter of a century of encouraging people to discover and enjoy the diverse food produced across Britain. Running from 26 September to 11 October, it brings together farmers, producers, communities and food businesses in a celebration that stretches from field to fork.

Britain's changing seasons give us an enormous variety of ingredients throughout the year. Autumn brings its own particular selection, with apples, pears, root vegetables and squashes appearing as the warmer days of summer give way to cooler weather.

Working with food every day makes you appreciate just how much goes into even the simplest lunch. The bread in a sandwich, the leaves in a salad, the cheese on a platter and the fruit alongside it have all had a journey before they reach our kitchen – and another before the finished food reaches yours.

It's easy to become disconnected from that journey, particularly when so much produce is available throughout the year. Knowing what's in season and taking an interest in where food has been grown or produced can help us appreciate the people and places behind it.

British food isn't simply about traditional dishes either. The way we eat continues to evolve, influenced by different cultures, communities and cooking traditions. Ingredients grown and produced here can find their way into everything from familiar favourites to dishes inspired by flavours from around the world.

That's one of the things we enjoy about working with food. Familiar ingredients can be used in countless different ways, and something as simple as changing what's in season can bring different flavours and colours to a menu.

British Food Fortnight is an opportunity to notice those connections and perhaps pay a little more attention to what's available closer to home. It might mean trying a British-grown variety of fruit or vegetable you haven't bought before, looking at where an ingredient has come from or simply enjoying an old favourite.

And if you're bringing the team together over lunch, it could be a good excuse to try one of our British selection box or stick with the familiar favourites in one of our classic sandwich selections. Sometimes celebrating British food can be as simple as enjoying a good sandwich together.

After 25 years, the idea behind the celebration remains refreshingly simple: take an interest in the food Britain produces, discover what's available and enjoy it.
