The Big Lunch - 5 - 8 June
The Big Lunch is a nationwide initiative built around a simple idea: bringing people together over food. First launched in 2009 by the Eden Project, the campaign was created to encourage stronger communities by inspiring neighbours, friends, and colleagues to sit down, share a meal, and connect with one another.
Over the years, The Big Lunch has grown into one of the UK’s biggest annual community events, with millions of people taking part through street parties, garden lunches, workplace gatherings, and shared meals. While the event originally focused on neighbourhood communities, the same idea translates perfectly into modern workplaces, where food often becomes the centre of team connection and conversation.
There’s something uniquely social about shared food. Sandwich platters, grazing tables, pastries, salads, and sweet treats naturally create a more relaxed atmosphere, encouraging people to step away from desks and enjoy time together. Even a simple lunch spread can help meetings feel more informal and office lunches feel more memorable.
At Masons Kitchen, many of our menus are designed with sharing in mind. Our sandwich platter boxes, signature salad boxes, vegan grazing selections, and freshly baked sweet treats work particularly well for communal lunches and team gatherings. Designed for easy sharing and generous presentation, they help create the kind of relaxed dining experience that The Big Lunch celebrates.
As summer approaches, shared lunches become an even better way to bring teams together, whether for office socials, client lunches, or workplace events. The Big Lunch is a reminder that food is often about much more than eating — it’s about creating moments people genuinely enjoy together.
